WORKSHOPS & CONSULTATION

At Collaborate, we offer workshops and consultations for a range of difficulties.

 

WORKSHOPS 

We are in the process of setting up the following workshops: 

  • Coping with Caring - this is a series of workshops aimed at family carers of people with dementia.

    • These workshops will consist of 5 sessions, each lasting 90 minutes.

    • The aims of the workshops are to: enhance your understanding of dementia; learn strategies to manage some of the behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia, learn different ways to manage stress and maximise your own well-being, and to meet and learn from others who may be experiencing similar challenges.

    • These workshops are run with small groups, with people of different ages and backgrounds and are facilitated by one or more of our Clinical Psychologists.

  • Living Positively with Dementia this is a series of workshops for people recently diagnosed with dementia.

    • These workshops will consist of 5 sessions, each lasting 90 minutes.

    • Each session covers a different topics, including: adjustment to diagnosis; memory strategies; maximising brain health and emotional well-being, and planning for the future.

    • Again, these workshops are run with small groups, with people of different ages and backgrounds and are facilitated by one or more of our Clinical Psychologists.

  • Sexual Difficulties - this is a series of workshops each focusing on a different sexual difficulty.

    • Th​ese workshops will consist of 5 sessions, each lasting 90 minutes.

    • The aims of the workshops are to: provide you with the knowledge and understanding of why sexual difficulties are experienced and what maintains them, to give you strategies and techniques to overcome your sexual difficulty, and to give you the opportunity to hear from other people experiencing the same difficulty as you.

    • Again, these workshops are run with small groups, with people of different ages and backgrounds and are facilitated by one or more of our Clinical Psychologists.

  • Antenatal Workshop for First-Time Parents 

    • This is a one-off three hour workshop for first-time mothers and fathers.

    • The workshop aims to help support expectant parents to feel more confident about the transition to parenthood.
      It covers topics such as baby's social and emotional development, bonding in the early days, how to cope with crying, and how to look after yourself and your relationships.

    • Again, these workshops are run with small groups, with people of different ages and backgrounds and are facilitated by one or more of our Clinical Psychologists.

CONSULTATION

We can offer formal consultations to couples, families, carers and other services / professionals on any of the difficulties we specialise in, including: 

  • Issues related to ageing - including changes in cognition and behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia

  • Sexual difficulties 

  • Parent and infant mental health 

A formal consultation will include a 90-minute meeting with one or more of the Collaborate Psychologists, along with a written report detailing any recommendations discussed at meeting. Follow-up meetings can also be arranged to review any progress towards overcoming the challenges identified at the initial consultation.
